The North West Regional Science Park Innovation Centre is the first project in a planned new business district in Londonderry focused on new “start-up” companies. The building is a steel frame structure clad externally in stone and insulated aluminium panels, giving a gross floor area of 4,850m2 (52,200 sqft). Being the first building in the Fort George master plan the NWRSP had to set a high standard for design and quality of materials. The completed project achieved this objective and has been widely acclaimed as an exemplar model of a high quality Innovation Centre design and delivered within an affordable budget. The North West Regional Science Park Innovation Centre has had a significant positive impact on the communities of Derry. It has attracted dynamic young start-up companies to the project and increased job opportunities for the local community. Located on a large reclaimed brownfield site the local infrastructure has been designed to support significant expansion of the planned business park. McAdams are currently working on Phases 2 and 3 of this expansion such has been the initial success of the project
