McAdams with PRP Interiors won the interior design commission to convert the existing Grade B1 listed Cultra Manor Country House from an administration building into a new conferencing and events centre for the National Museums of Northern Ireland. Together with PRP Interiors we developed a new interior design to elevate the Edwardian grandeur of the existing by retaining and enhancing the Manor’s traditional architectural splendour and period features.
The design development balanced a tight budget against a client aspiration for high-quality finishes and fittings. McAdams were appointed late in the building procurement programme and we had to quickly develop an affordable solution and lead the client efficiently and effectively through the design process to ensure the scheme was delivered to programme. This was achieved by ensuring swift agreement of the interior design concept through extensive stakeholder meetings and assisting in sourcing furniture, fixtures, and fittings directly with suppliers.
The scheme restored and enhanced the original atmosphere of this period Edwardian house. McAdams sensitive design approach has made the new conference and events centre at Cultra one of Northern Irelands “leading venues for weddings and conferencing events” with extremely positive feedback from the client and customers. This is perfectly evidence in the following quote:
“We had our wedding at the Cultra Manor in December 2012, and it was perfect. The house is brilliant and is in a fantastic location with lots of space. It has been brilliantly redecorated”, Tom Gilbert, Newcastle, Trip Advisor.
