Beechcroft AMHIU is an important addition to the Belfast HSC Trust estate and a vital healthcare facility embedded within the community it serves. McAdams were appointed as lead design consultants and collaborated extensively with UK based specialist healthcare architects Gilling Dodd for the provision of this new-build regional centre for mental health care.
Primarily focused on children and adolescents this state-of-the art facility was specifically tailored to support the doctors, nurses, and staff in the efficient delivery of their service whilst also ensuring the environment is calm, stress-free, and conducive to patient welfare. The completed project was very significant as it became Northern Ireland’s first purpose-built Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) building. It contained in-patient bedrooms, day/dining rooms, sports halls, garden areas, car-parking, landscaping etc. The project was entered for the “Building Better Healthcare Awards 2010” and was commended by the judges.
The new Beechcroft AMHIU completed a campus of healthcare buildings on a very restricted and challenging services of co-joined sites. The result was a modern accessible facility which increased the healthcare provision the local community but due to excellent road links extended its reach throughout Northern Ireland.
