The new Andersonstown Leisure Centre, delivered as part of Belfast City Council’s £105m Leisure Transformation Programme, is an ambitious and exciting project comprising a range of pool facilities for both leisure and fitness, with flumes, slides, surf air, play frame, a 25m pool and learner pool. The facilities include a 5-a-side MUGA pitch, gym, café and 2 spacious and air conditioned multipurpose studios which offer a range of fitness classes including Total Body Conditioning, HIIT and yoga. All are fitted with top of the range lighting and sound system.
Conceived as a replacement for the existing Andersontown Leisure Centre the project was carefully crafted to fit within the existing site whilst also resolving a significant level change. The design was developed in collaboration with our leisure architect partners S&P Ltd using our combined expertise to deliver a community facility that makes sits proudly on Andersontown Road and has been recognised in the RICS 2020 awards as a winner in the Leisure and Tourism category.
From the inception to completion the project team consulted the community to ensure that it's goal that everyone has access to modern, fit for purpose leisure facilities, was achieved. It consulted local neighbourhoods to ensure that their facilities suited the style of activities that the community required. The time and energy committed to consultation across a divided society demonstrated genuine community commitment to addressing health inequalities across Belfast.
