McAdam’s Chris Hughes and John Findlay attended the ceremonial cutting of the first sod on the Strangford Road site for the new school building for Down High School. Attending was the Minister for Education, Ms Michelle McIlveen, representatives from the Department of Education, the Education Authority, McAdam Design, Graham Construction, Down High School’s Board of Governors, the Senior Leadership Team and two Year 8 pupils (Ariana Currie and Harold Alexander) gathered to witness the first sod being cut on the Strangford Road with a ceremonial silver shovel.
Speaking at the site of the new school, Minister McIlveen said, "This is a really exciting day for the whole school community as work gets underway on their new building. This is a significant £33 million investment by my Department and will provide a modern learning and teaching environment, tailored to meet the needs of pupils and teachers."
